The focus of this portal, teaming up with the UGA Extension Office here in Coweta County, is to allow our students not only the chance to experience nature but to examine it.

Our portal experience partner, UGA Extension Office has done a great job in helping us bring life to this portal in our library. Students have the chance to read books about the topics at hand while also spending time learning through hands on exhibits. 

This portal also has books about all types of animals that the students get very excited about. This portal is an awesome launching point for our students of all ages.

Examples of Portal Activities:

• Butterfly Learning Station and Art Activity

  • PEP created an art activity showing the life cycle of a butterfly.

  • This learning station will also include a caterpillar for the students to watch transform into a butterfly soon!

• Flipgrid Video Station

  • Students use the online Flipgrid subscription website (flipgrid.com) to create videos focusing on animals. 

  • Students use the books within the portal as well as stuffed/plastic animals for demonstrations in their videos.

This butterfly exhibit was a hit with the students! As you can see from the picture above, this is a very interactive area of the Launch Pad Library!
